Jazmine Sullivan
Jazmine was born and raised within Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Her mother Pam is a former backing singer at Philadelphia International Records. At the age of five, older, her father was offered in the role of curator for the city's Historic Strawberry Mansion in the Strawberry Mansion section, and her family relocated to the landmark historical building. The year 2005 marks her Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts graduated, she is a major in the field of vocal music. Sullivan started singing as a contralto with the kids' choir, and then shortly after, she was a part of the adult group. Sullivan was never exposed to secular music at beginning. "When I reached eleven years old, someone asked me to sign up for a gospel record. I was not going to do that," she says. "Then when McDonald's held a contest for students in big cities I was invited to perform 'Accept What God Wills' on Showtime on the Apollo and the audience responded really well". Stevie Wonder sang her part for her son's 13th birthday celebration. Sullivan made her first signing to Jive Records when she was fifteen. She was signed to Jive Records in the year 15. She produced an entire album but this album did not see release. Sullivan was then dropped by the label. They had a strong working partnership along with Missy Elliott. Elliott produced some of her tracks, including "Backstabbers" the track that was produced by Timbaland.
